3 hour class

Participants will understand the nature of fire. Recognize fire hazards and ways to prevent fires. Learn about early warning systems and understand the use of fire extinguishers. Focus on the evacuation needs of the residents. Discussion will include the facility emergency and disaster plans.

If a scheduled employee/new-hire does not show for class, we will allow a facility credit of the cost of the class per person. 2 hour class

Participants will learn why standard precautions are important in their work and understand how bloodborne diseases and other communicable diseases spread from person to person. Participants will also understand how to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and learn what to do during and after an exposure incident.

14 hours of training curriculum. Instruction is provided in two consecutive 8 hour days. The hours include breaks and test time.

Medication Administration: Participants will learn about the rights of residents, as well as facility policies and procedures. Substance Abuse, Administering to Youth, Delegation procedures, medication management, medical terms, abbreviations, medication packaging, labeling, storage, administration and documentation requirements will all be covered. Full demonstration of the E-MAR system versus the use of a manual MAR.

Full comprehension of the curriculum, as well as all assigned class work, is expected and required to pass both tests. There will be a written test and a demonstration of medication administration test.
